Just a quick blog this weekend so that Joni and I can introduce our newest basket design, the Bee Skep basket. It is also the first of our new "Story Baskets".
The Bee Skep Basket is designed in the shape of an old-time, woven bee hive, or bee skep. Ours has a lid, however, allowing you to use the Bee Skep Basket as an actual basket.
Take a look at the ivory scrims: They tell a story. The front scrim is a picture of a bee skep, and the back scrim is of honey bees collecting pollen and nectar from sourwood blossoms. We chose sourwood blossoms because we have an abundance of sourwood trees on our property. The first side scrim is of a single honeybee flying from the front bee skep to the back sourwood. The other side scrim is of a honeybee flying from the sourwood blossoms back to the home bee skep. This one, however, has its rear leg pollen sacs filled with pollen. As an entomologist, I wanted it to be as accurate as possible.
Watch for new story basket designs in the future. We will post this one soon on the “View Basket Projects” page on our website, with the price. It will be a Limited Edition basket, with a customized one inch logo scrim in the base.
