Well, this whole "blog thing” can certainly get away with you if you are not used to posting regularly! Our best intentions are to post a new blog for Handmade North Carolina Baskets every week.
I’ll try and catch us up today:
Since our last report, we have been to Guilders Weave, the Georgia Basketmaker’s Convention, the Basket Cruise, and spent some time with the Clearwater, Florida basket makers (Tampa Guild). We held our first HNCB Nantucket Workshop in Summerfield, and just got home from the NCBA. It has been a whirlwind year so far in 2016. Take a look at the website photo gallery for pictures. Believe it our not, we actually dropped one of two events that we would normally have done by now. This is no reflection on those events, but every year, some events just do not fit in with previous commitments.
Our overall goal, however is to reduce the number of “travel-to” events, while expanding the number of events we hold here in Summerfield, NC as HNCB Nantucket Workshops. We don’t want to restrict anyone from making Nantucket Baskets, but more events at our home studio will allow us to be more efficient and allow us to spend more time with our family. Both of our children (and thier significant others....watch for a future post) are heavilly involved with HNCB.
Other news:
We are expecting another granddaughter this summer, in early June. We look forward to meeting Aariona Turner.
We are already gearing up for Christmas 2016! Please plan to have your orders in by August 1, 2016 to insure early delivery, and to allow weaving time for Christmas presents this year. We will have a hard-stop date for shipping on December 15, 2016, and will start evaluating orders for Christmas-delivery feasibility after August. Christmas orders will be filled on a first come-first served basis, and we will let you know at ordering time if we will be able to make December 15 shipping. The main issue is that we have a very busy teaching schedule through Thanksgiving, and we want to make sure as many people as possible can have their presents ready on time. We would also like to spend time with our family in December!
Until next time, take care everybody and be safe. Keep weaving happy events into your lives and we will see you next time!
